This weekend on Real Gospel I’ll speak with one of the busiest men in the gospel music industry, Michael Boykin of Michael Boykin & the Mighty Voices. Their newly signed to the legendary Motown Gospel record label and their new single “Anyway” is speaking to the hearts and minds of everyone who hears this moving and riveting song. Let’s take a peep at his bio: The Voices are the proud recipients of the 2006 North Carolina Announcers Guild Prestige Award for Group Traditional Duo, 2009 Newsome Music Award Quartet of the Year, and 2010 Rhythm of Gospel Award Male Quartet of the year. They have won numerous awards in 07, 08, and 2011. Most recently The Texas Music Excellence Award Male Quartet of the year 2014.Michael Boykin and the Mighty Voices have recorded 2 CDs within the past 9 years. Their freshman and sophomore projects entitled “Put God First” and “Coming Out of the Storm” did exceptionally well. On May 31, 2014 Michael Boykin and the Mighty Voices signed with Malaco Music Group at the North Carolina Gospel Announcers Guild under the Leadership of Bishop Arvetra Jones. Volunteer State Mass Choir Radio Interview

This Father’s Day weekend the Real Gospel spotlight is in the city of Nashville TN. Nashville is commonly known for country music and the T.V. show Nashville as well as the place where The Stellar Gospel Music Awards took place for many years. It should come as no surprise to many of us that great gospel music also hails from this city. Jeff Wilford is my guest as he talks about The Volunteer State Mass Choir and their new CD project “The Gospel of Tennessee” Jeff talks about the labor of love with this project, explains to us what the word “sticktoitness” means which is a word he created, and just how long does it take for a person to put together an independent project from idea to CD release? You’ve been hearing the song “Jesus is Real” on Real Gospel for over a year, now their new song “He’ll work it out” and “I Forgot Just who I am” are taking off all over the country!
