About Shekinah Glory Ministry
SHEKINAH GLORY MINISTRY: SURRENDER
A dozen years in, the Chicago-based ensemble known as Shekinah Glory Ministry (SGM) continues to dominate and set the standard for urban praise and worship music. They’ve made chants such as “Praise is What I Do” and “Jesus” universally known tunes that choirs around the globe sing every Sunday morning. With five RIAA gold and platinum record and video certifications behind them, this coterie of psalmists, minstrels and banner-wavers are poised to strike gold again with their fifth original CD, Surrender (Kingdom Records,) scheduled for a September 25, 2012 release.
Recorded this past April at its home church, Valley Kingdom Ministry International near Chicago, SGM delivered another set of soul-stirring original songs that kept the capacity audience on its feet most of the night with hands lifted towards the heavens in praise. The closing tune, “Surrender”, summed up the evening’s theme. SGM’s leader, Phil Tarver, with a heartfelt plea, prayed openly for God to break his spirit and give him a contrite heart prior to launching into the majestic declaration. “Lord, break me again until the tears pour out”, he whispered into his microphone. “Tonight the Lord says don’t throw in the white towel but wave the white flag,” he challenged the congregation as he implored it to look up and, “tell Him [God] I surrender to your purpose, to your plan, to your way.”
The thirteen-tracks all deal with some variation of concession to God’s will whether by turning one’s trials and tribulations over to Him on the up-tempo, Afro-Cuban seasoned “By Faith” or yielding to a call to worship on the dance-flavored, “Come On”. Aside from Tarver who leads three songs, there are several new SGM voices such as Brandon Alsberry, Joan Olander, Monique Miller, Jason Robinson and Danielle Nightingale Cargo. There is a guest appearance by veteran vocalist, Kim Stratton, on the riveting ballad “Broken” and the late Pepe Epting’s tenor soars on the reverential, “Peace for My World”.
Kingdom Records is a leader in African-American praise and worship music with hits such as Shekinah Glory Ministry’s 2001 breakthrough smash, “Praise is What I Do”. The million-selling SGM is not a choir. Instead, it’s a dynamic ensemble of psalmists, minstrels, and banner bearers who perform “under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. “ Their Hebrew name means “the glorified presence of God.” Their CDs Praise Is What I Do (#5 peak Top Gospel Albums) and Shekinah Glory Ministry Live (#3 peak Top Gospel Albums – 103 weeks on the chart) were both certified gold in 2005 and 2008 respectively. They also have three gold or platinum DVDs to their credit and their 2010 CD, Refreshed By Fire, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. Juzang Radio Interview

Thursday Sep 13, 2018
This weekend the group Juzang are my guests! Gather your young people around and catch this exciting radio interview, their song "Finisher" is taking off all over the world and you'll find out why!!
Who is Juzang?
Sometimes you find an unquestionable anointing of the gift of music and performance. Couple that with the desire and passion to serve and praise God to the fullest and uplift the Name of Jesus, and you’ve got the key ingredients to what makes contemporary Gospel/Christian recording artists, Guielle, Patria and Marisa, such an awesome singing group! They have that ‘sibling blend’ that comes with common blood…but they are daughters of the King and covered in His Royal Blood which gives extraordinary power to every note sung and every word uttered! The trio answered that all too familiar call on their lives to praise God through soulful music that has always been a part of their family roots through their grandfather who for more than 40 years sang, played multiple instruments, wrote and rearranged Gospel quartet music and who had the privilege to share stages with renowned artists like the Mighty Clouds of Joy and Jackson Southernaires, and through their cousins, the Pope Sisters, who paved the way for black female groups like the Supremes, by singing in the 1930s in movies, on Broadway and on stage with Duke Ellington. Little did these forerunners know that generations later their legacy would continue through their blood by this sister trio group called JUZANG, a French name that has been traced back to over a thousand years and according to the family’s coat of arms means “gracious and ambitious.” With music in their blood and born to sing, the sister-trio has been singing at churches and concerts; for special events like the President Barack Obama’s 2012 Democratic National Convention Gala and for four-star generals at distinguished military events. Also, in the footsteps of their grandfather, JUZANG has shared stages with Grammy, Stellar, and Dove winning recording artists such as Richard Smallwood, Marvin Sapp and many other others. They have also performed numerous covers of well-known artists in the Gospel Industry and received personal accolades from Kirk Franklin, Mary-Mary, Donnie McClurkin and Donald Lawrence. JUZANG is a popular internet sensation and two of their most popular YouTube covered songs have exceeded views over 2.3M (“He Wants It All/He Loves You/We Fall Down”) and 1.6M (“All We Ask”).JUZANG CD project, “The Path,” was nominated for 4 awards by the South Florida Gospel Music Academy in 2010. In the summer of 2012, JUZANG organized a summer tour where they ministered in West Palm Beach, FL, Washington, DC, Riverside, CA, and Los Angeles, CA, where they ministered at many churches including two mega-churches (Noel Jones’ City of Refuge and Bishop Charles E. Blake’s West Angeles COGIC). JUZANG also released digitally an EP project, “Back 2 Life.” All of their hard work up to this point has led them to a broader market to include: (1) new management under Jazzy Jordan, who is the former Sr. V.P. for Sony/Verity and is mentioned in the same breath with Barry Gordy and Quincy Jones; (2) signing with San Diego based record label Mandate Records, who is planning to release a new JUZANG single throughout the radio industry before the end of this quarter; (3) a recently signed contract with Disney for a soundtrack for one of Disney’s movies; and (4) television opportunities where they have created a commercial for the Nissan Fiat automobile and have been noticed by some Paramount and some ABC executives. JUZANG has also had the privilege of being on televised programs to include the internationally known Bobby Jones Gospel Show (Word Network), Magnify Him on the Dare to Dream Network and the Atlanta Live Network. One of JUZANG’s greatest moments during their singing career is when they were asked to sing for two evangelistic meetings where their music assisted in motivating approximately 78 youth to accept the call to be baptized. JUZANG has also raised through their 501(c)(3) Kidz 4 Kidz, Inc. over $11,000 for medically challenged and abused children. They say music run in the blood, and in the case of JUZANG, it runs deep. Join them on their journey to see where God will lead them next to impact the world for His Glory!
